The Pumpkin Patch Look

When you go to a pumpkin patch you have to put on a great fall look! There's just so many photo moments, so you have to be picture ready! When I think about fall fashion. I instantly see multiple shades of browns and orange. Nice big scarfs or chunky sweaters to keep you warm in the chilly weather! Lastly you definitely need a pair of boots! Preferably riding boots because those are my favorite.  As I prepared my outfit for a day at the pumpkin patch I made sure to encompass all of this!

The weather forecasted temperatures in the 60s. Now for me this is cold so I needed to make sure I would be warm while participating in all the outside activities. I refused to wear a coat that hid my look, so layers were definitely needed! A few years ago I scored a black thermal at forever21 that is such great quality and so warm. That was layer one! I then paired it with a tan mid length sweater. A perfect fall color and also a perfect way to keep me warm. After this second layer, I put on an oversized blanket scarf! I love blanket scarfs because they're so warm, versatile, and enhance a look easily! That was my final layer, and voilà there you have it! My completed Pumpkin Patch look.

I threw on my faithful brown leather coach purse. Which was the perfect size to stash my everyday items and all the extra packages of donuts. On my feet I wore my brown Steve Madden leather riding boots. I've had these for years and they still look amazing! When it comes to shoes I highly recommend Steve Madden because their quality never disappoints. To finish off the look I then went for some simple gold jewelry, hoops and my Alex and Ani bracelets!

It didn't take long for Winter and Christmas to begin to sneak up on us! I mean it technically isn't Winter until December 21st! So, I am trying to hold onto Fall for as long as I can! Only a few more days in the 60s and 50s, here in NY, before the snow flurries and 0 degree weather is upon us! Happy Fall everyone!

Pumpkin Patch Me!

Happy Fall! and and I hope everyone has had a happy October! It's that time of year where the leaves are changing, scary movies took control of the tv, and neutral shades are taking over your closet! However, one of the best things, are all of the fun fall activities that pop up. Haunted houses, hay rides, apple picking, corn mazes, and pumpkin patches! With everything going on this year it was questionable what would be possible. Although this year may be very different from years past, you still have to keep trying your best to make the most of it! Luckily here in upstate NY many of our local farms were still able to offer some of their fall activities! But, only with masks on your face, social distancing taking place, and sanitizing stations of course! Was it Different? Yes definitely ! But was it still fun? Absolutely!

I haven't been to a "pumpkin patch" since I was in elementary school. However, I have been dying to go again for years. I just remember it being so much fun! I also remember stuffing my face with donuts and drinking endless cups of apple cider. I always would make plans and they would fall through. However, this year I was determined! After a bunch of begging and convincing, I got my family to go on this adventure with me. We headed to Wickham Farms and it truly was such a great experience.
Now I don't know if my memory is off, or if things have changed... but that place was just so gorgeous. There were so many picture perfect places. This farm is truly full of endless Instagram worthy spots. With the pandemic going on, if I was a parent, this would be the perfect place to get those "school pics" in to send out to the family. Wait, do people still even order those pricey picture packages? Do people still mail cute cards with pictures in them, or is everything just on social media? Either way, it's the perfect place to get some fall pictures in, if you can't tell by some of the gems I captured with my family.

Now we didn't take pictures the whole time. The farm was loaded with endless activities. We played giant board games, road a train, slid down a huge slide, and got lost in a corn maze. The corn maze was definitely quite the experience. My mom and aunt were freaking out before we even stepped in, but luckily we navigated our way through. We watched all the different animals graze on the farm, we scavenged through 100s of pumpkins to find the perfect one, and then we bounced on a giant inflatable one. Most importantly we stuffed our faces with fresh warm donuts and apple cider.

This trip to the pumpkin patch was just what I needed and exceeded my expectations. It was so nice to do something that felt normal again, and do it with the people I love. I know that this will be something I make sure we do every year moving forward. Happy Fall Everyone <3

Wheeeeewwww!! These past few months have been nothing short of shocking! The world truly took a turn that was so unexpected! Out of nowhere everything just stopped! If the pandemic has taught us anything it's to expect the unexpected, and to never take any moment for granted. For something as simple as going to a retail store, hanging out with friends, or even hitting the gym... it can all easily be taken away from you in a matter of seconds. When the world goes back to normal I'm sure we all will be making the most of it!

In the meantime we are all working towards getting used to our new normal. As we do this a new mandatory accessory has hit the scene! MASKS! Masks have become key, as we all begin to make our way back outside. They have also become a staple in our wardrobe. For me personally, I see the masks as a way to make a fashion statement while still keeping yourself and others safe! I personally always thought those snapchat filters with the masks were so cute! So, although many of us may find the masks uncomfortable or slightly irritating, we can still find ways to make the most of them!

I like to coordinate the masks with my outfit! We have to wear them all the time, so there's no point in walking around with colors clashing. Might as well serve a look while you work through a pandemic right?
Picture
I'm lucky to have a grandma who has been sewing all her life! She made my family so many different kinds of masks in multiple pretty fun prints! I felt the need to make many of her masks statement pieces in my outfits because they truly deserved to be the focal point! Just like this one you see here! It has so many bright pastel colors that are eye catching. Whenever I wear a pastel piece I feel the need to keep the rest of the outfit light as well. Therefore, I paired it with light wash jeans, a white top, and yellow converses to highlight and accentuate the colors in the masks.
Picture
I know many of you may not be lucky enough to have a grandma with an abundance of elaborate fabrics. However, at this point all stores have incorporated masks into their inventory. You can definitely score some cute masks in different colors and patterns just about anywhere at this point. Two good place I highly recommend, checking out for masks, are Target and Old Navy! Target has masks in 2 packs in just about all colors for less than $5. Pick out your top 3 most worn colors and then get 3 packs of coordinating masks! Old Navy is doing a great job with masks in all different cute and trendy patterns. They are offering them in sets of 5-10 and they have so many different fun combinations! One thing about Old Navy is they always have simple but stylish patterns. When it came to masks they definitely didn't fall short and they fell right in line with the rest of their timelessly stylish items.

So, yes these are definitely unprecedented times. However, we have to make the most of what we are dealing with. Add a little bit of normalcy with a mask that shows some personality and style. When the future generations look back at pictures of crazy 2020, make sure you're the one that stands out in your color coordinated pandemic look.

The Winds of Change

I feel like so many things are changing. It started off with the seasons changing. Different colored leaves, shorter days, snowfalls, and cold windy nights. And then life overall is changing. I feel like I'm at a weird age where some people my age are starting families, another group is focusing on finishing school and/or building their careers, and then the final group is still trying to figure out this thing called life. I scroll through my social media feeds and I see a mixture of pregnant bellies, exam grades, alcohol, coffee, travel pics, and more. When your 24 it's just an odd time of confusing changes.

Now this year is coming to an end, and that always leads to a time of reflection. "What are some things that I should change" "What are some things I need to work on?" "Where should I be in life" "What do I want to achieve" I'm not sure about you, but all of these are constant thoughts that run through my head, especially around this time of the year.

For me personally this year started off rocky. There was a lot of unwanted situations and uncertainties going on in my life. However, in the middle of the year something inside of me just clicked. Things just started to get better, and by "get better" I mean FEEL better. Cause, when I look back there was no major life change or anything. However, I was just in better spirits and just felt an overwhelming flow of positivity enter my life.

Out of nowhere, sometimes the winds just change. They change direction, speed, and can cause a disruption. As I took these pics I realized I couldn't fight against the wind. Otherwise, I'd wind up with my hair blown all over the place and my kimono twisted around my legs. I instead had to go with the flow of the wind, adapt to the changes, and make the wind work for me. The same can be said with life. Sometimes things will unexpectedly change and be out of our control. We can either get caught up in the changes and wind up twisted and all over the place, or we can adapt and make the change work for us.

I love how the win caught my kimono. Nothing says "go with the flow" and "positivity" like a flowy 70s inspired kimono. I scored this one from Rue21, on clearance,  for just $8! I typically where a small, however this was the only one that they had left, and it's a large. However, I love how loose and free flowing it is. That's the great thing about kimonos! If it was smaller, it would have a different look and I don't think it would look as nice on me. I paired it with a tan cami that had shimmery trimmed details. The bottoms are high-waisted brown pants that I scored from Pacsun during a "going out of business" sale for just $10. The great thing about these pants is that they are super soft! They're such a comfortable pair of pants and go great for a neutral outfit like this.

I accessorized with brown and gold. Starting off with brown sandals, this specific sandal style is my favorite because it's simple, but just so fashionable at the same time. Next, was a dark brown coach purse which I choose to offset the lighter brown pants. As for jewelry I went with gold to remain in the same color family. I wore an adjustable Alex and Ani necklace which I stretched to the longest length to add a little something to my plain cami top. I continued with my Alex and Ani obsession and wore all my gold charm bracelets. Large gold hoops and my gold rings finish off this jewelry line up.

As I walked outside my kimono and hair flowed with the win. It's something about a kimono that makes you feel light, free, cheery, and optimistic. If you follow me on social media. My most recent post said...
"Bridges Burned and Turned to Ashes.
Sometimes Betrayal is the Blessing."

Sometimes our lives will experience a moment of turmoil. Leaving us overwhelmed and confused as to what is going on and why it's happening to us. However, more often then not we come out of that unwanted moment stronger and better then before. This year has been a true example of this for me. I'm not sure what changed the direction of the windy storm I was experiencing this year, but I'm so happy it did.

Falling For Prints

The warm weather has come to an end here in Rochester. It was so nice while it lasted.

Now the leaves are changing, the weather is getting colder, and the days are getting shorter. I personally am not a lover of fall. I hate the smell and taste of pumpkin anything. I'm a big baby and afraid of all scary movies. I've never been to a haunted house, hayride, or any of that October stuff. However, I do love apple cider and donuts, and love seeing the pretty changing colors of the leaves. It's time to start unpacking all the cold weather clothes. Luckily we had one final warm day and I got to wear my open toe shoes and floral pants one final time.

My outfit consisted of black and white ankle pants with leaves that resemble palm tree leaves to me. The top was just a simple black top which had a wide shaped neck, adding a simple but additional touch. I scored the pants for just $8.00 at Forever 21. This is amazing because I really needed some more good work pants and that price is amazing. The top was also a steal at just $5.00 from Sears. A perfect little basic at a perfect little price!
I accessorized with simple pieces. I rocked my black Karl Lagerfield bag. For jewelry, I put on my nameplate necklace with a thin chain. I then wore gold earrings that mimicked the leave pattern on my pants. Instead of wearing all of my Alex and Ani bracelets, I just put on two, because the pants were busy enough.

The shoes are Steve Madden and just so perfect! I ordered like 5 pair of open toe suede shoes and each had subtle differences and these were the winner! These were perfect because the heel was thick enough to be supportive and easy to walk in. However, they still had a great height to them making them very fashionable. Often with this type of shoe you get a rectangular shape heel, but I don't really like that because at times it can look too boxy. However these were the shape of a semi circle, making them much more aesthetically pleasing to me. Lastly, sometimes when you get shoes, fastening them can be difficult!  Sometimes the straps are too loose or too tight. However, these were just right! They had multiple adjustments which made me feel secure at all times!

I'm not ready to let the summer go. This outfit was the perfect way to keep a little summer, but still make a great transition into the fall. Plus, the colorful leaves made a great background for my pictures. 😃
