Cheers To The New Year

As we move into 2021 I'm hoping this year will be much better than the last. 2020 was nothing short of interesting, so I'm hoping to get back to some sort of normalcy. I'm excited to hopefully be able to leave the stressors and uncertainties behind in 2020 and begin moving forward and making better strides towards a beautiful future.

I like to always  start my year off by making goals. I write a detailed list down in my journal of at least 10 things I want to achieve for the year. This allows you to really focus in on what it is that matters to you, and create realistic potential achievements. I then make a fun, captivating visual in the form of a vision board, that get's hung up on my wall. I absolutely LOVE vision boards and I swear they really work. I highly encourage you to look into the law of attraction because I swear, ever since I have begun doing vision boards, I've seen more of my goals and dreams come true.

So for this blog post I wanted to share some of my goals with you! Keyword... some. Yearly goals are a really personal experience. They should also be really specific; contain exact dollar amounts, incorporate exact people, and essentially just contain measurable outcomes. Basically, there's a lot of precise numbers and outcomes I have on my list that may bore some of you so I'll keep it uncomplicated.
Picture
1. Travel!
My first goal of the year is to get back into traveling! I had so many trips planned for 2020 but, COVID-19 definitely put a halt to this. When a world wide pandemic strikes traveling for fun just isn't an option. I sat at home for long enough! Now that travel restrictions are letting up, attractions are opening again, and the virus is more under control, I'm getting back out there and seeing more of the world! I already have one trip planned for February. Don't worry...nothing major... I'm not even leaving the state.

2. Enhance FASHMIRA
Over the past couple of years you've been able to see FASHMIRA  grow and become more than a hobby on Google's Blogger platform. My goal is to continue to enhance FASHMIRA. Blog posts will become much more frequent! I feel like I say this every year but it's happening! This past year I launched a couple of products and by the end of 2021 the goal is to have a whole lot more, so get ready! When it comes to measuring my outcomes I want to increase subscribers, (HOLD ON! are you subscribed? Go ahead and drop you info at the bottom of this post don't worry I won't flood your email I swear!) increase overall pageviews, increase my social media presence, and increase sales! I have so many visions for FASHMIRA and the work has begun!

3. Develop New Skills
The third goal that I want to share with you is my desire to build up my skills. Despite the negatives of the pandemic, one great thing it gave us was time. I want to use my newly gained free time to learn new skills. One big thing I want to tackle is the art of photoshop. I learned how to do minor editing but now I want to dive deeper into it to really master editing. I also want to learn more about video editing so I can potentially begin to bring you all some video content. Lastly, as I dive deeper into the art of event planning I want to learn some new techniques so I can heighten my event planning offerings. These are just a few of the skills I really want to focus in on this year.
Picture
4. Self-Love
Lastly, I end this blog post with my desire to continue to pour into myself. I'm letting go of things that no longer serve me. I'm only allowing peace and growth to flourish within. One of the quotes that I live by is don't worry be happy. Whenever someone asks me how do I see myself in the future or what do I want out of life. My response to them is always "To be happy." We can make all these goals, achieve all of these things, but if we aren't happy then what are we truly doing everything for? My goal is to always chase and strive for genuine happiness.
I decided to take self love one step further and be a little more intentional. This year I will be celebrating my birthday monthly as opposed to just on June 13th. Out of 365 days so many of us only really celebrate ourselves 1 day out of the year. When everyday truly is a gift to us and the others around who get to experience us. So on the 13th of every month it will be my birthday and I will treat myself to something special and make sure overall is a great day where I treat myself like the princess that I am. However, it doesn't just end there, this whole year will be committed towards heightening the love I have for myself. I will surround myself with people who make me happy, put myself in places that make me happy, and treat myself to things that bring me joy.
Picture
These are just a taste of some of my goals for the year. Remember I said you have to have at least 10 to really make it effective! I encourage you all to come up with some goals! I hope mine have helped you envision some of your own goals for the future. I'd love to hear some of your goals in the comments below. I hope you all are able to redefine your purpose. while you navigate throughout the year. Cheers to 2021 my dears!

Christmas Trees and Piano Keys

It's hard to believe that the holiday season is over. I really enjoyed myself this year. I was surrounded by family and friends, and made new special memories. Every weekend there was some sort of celebration I was attending. It's always great to get out of the house and do something different.

In my family we celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa, and new years. This year the holidays were dragged out for us. My little brother got his first job and my mom got a promotion, so their schedules were so busy. With Kwanzaa you're supposed to open a gift everyday over 7 days. However, because of conflicting schedules it got dragged out. We finally finished opening all our gifts last week. So now the holidays are officially over for me

I wanted to share some of my holiday looks with you. Most looks are are simple and plain. I found myself more interested in having a good time then stressing over show stopping outfits. I instead found myself in quality pieces that were comfy, festive, and would be safe around food and children.

This first look is a simple dress for a holiday party! You always want to look elegant when attending a more formal occasion. The silky satin material,  helped elevate this dress. The dress was loose and flowy. This is great for holidays because I'm sure we all give into the  extra slices of pie. Wearing a more flowy dress allows you to indulge and not have to worry about a little food baby appearing. The dress is simple but has cute little details that continue to enhance it. The trumpet sleeve and bow detail help take a simple burgundy dress, and turn it into a holiday favorite.

I'm not sure if you can tell from the pictures above but I have a thing for velvet! Especially velvet boots! For this next look I pulled out a crowd favorite, my little grey boots. I got the opportunity to help plan a vision board workshop! As a member of the team and a representation of FASHMIRA I wanted to look fashionable and not just wear the company shirt with jeans. Throwing on more funky shoes can easily take a simple outfit to the next level.

Now, for some reason red plaid was intense this year. I couldn't scroll down my social medias without seeing red plaid shirts, pjs, scarves, or home decor. Red plaid was just everywhere! And I wasn't immune to this wave of red plaid. I love a good plaid button down, cause they're effortlessly fashionable. I end this blog with my new favorite picture, unplanned matching with my two favorite guys, my brother and little cousin. From the shirts, to the jeans, and gold chains we all clearly got a message from the plaid monster. Unknowingly walking into the living room and seeing them mirror my outfit was definitely a holiday highlight. Overall, the holiday season was fun and eventful. Having fun with family and friends is all you truly need to make your holidays complete.

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season. I love December because you get to dress up extra festive with no judgement! Sparkles, fur, sequins, headpieces, ugly sweaters, light up clothing, clothes that sing to you,  and anything else you can imagine, it's all acceptable during December.

When it comes to dressing for the holidays, I feel like everyone instantly gravitates towards red! So I wanted to mix it up and highlight green! I really feel like mint and emerald green are going to be major colors for the upcoming year. If you follow my instagram alot of my posts have been in the green family. Moving forward green is definitely a color in my Fashmira Forecast. So I definitely had to highlight it in one of my Christmas looks.
Picture
Plaid has played a major role this past fall and now winter. So, what better piece than a plaid green skirt! It fit my Christmas theme and it is definitely a piece I can continue to wear. I found this skirt and fluffy top on Romwe. I have always loved furs and fluffy clothing, so I instantly fell in love. It's sassy, sophisticated, and at the same time easily adding a touch of glam to any occasion.

I ordered my Romwe items on black Friday and it came in about 2 weeks. And when I put this outfit on...
Picture
Ohhhhhh Mr. Sheffield!!!!!!
Wearing this outfit instantly gave me Fran Fine Vibes! Growing up I loved watching The Nanny. Mainly because of Fran Fine's outfits, she was just always serving a look! She had a mountain full of confidence and would turn heads! She was a major style influencer for me and I still am in awe of her outfits to this day! So when I put this look together I instantly felt like I was embodying her spirit and fashion sense. Now if only I could find a Mr.Sheffield to complete me!

I paired the outfit with black tights, knee high boots, gold jewelry, and a black coach wallet. I feel like the tights helped increase the level of glam in this outfit because bare legs could have easily made this look go left. Instead of a large purse I went with something smaller to keep the look elegant and dainty. It's simple choices and changes like these which proves the importance of choosing the right accessories.

This was definitely my favorite outfit I wore this holiday season! It was festive, but still glam and fashionable. I love being able to take an article of clothing that is a little out there, like this fluffy top, and creating a stylish look. I felt like Santa's stylish and slightly rebellious GLAMdaughter! Stay tuned for a summary of all the looks I pulled off this holiday season being posted early next week!

My Orange Outlet

At the beginning of the summer I took a trip to my local outlet mall. This was the perfect time to go because it was the switching of seasons. I love going during these times because you can always score amazing deals! So when I went, all of the winter items were on clearance and marked super low. The newest addition to my outlet is H&M. Now, H&M already offers reasonably priced items, so an outlet version was sure to be full of amazing deals.

I love saving money, so when I got to H&M I immediately walked straight back to the discounted section. And OH MY GOODNESS you guys there were so many amazing things for just $5! My arms were filled with clothes in about two minutes! Now that I think about it I don't even think I wound up exploring the rest of the store because I got so caught up in the clearance section. There were just so many great finds! A majority of their sweaters were just $5, and this orange sweater was one of them.
Picture
Picture
As you can see the sweater isn't just a cheap basic sweater. It is really great quality, thick, and has great stitching. Plus, it is super soft and comfy. Often times, when you find a low cost sweater it isn't going to last long, it's cheap for a reason. It's either itchy, has pulls at the stitching, or once you wash it's all over! After just one wash it'll magically have linty balls all over, the stitching will begin to get unraveled, or it will just shrink. So, I typically avoid certain sweaters because although the price may seem great, the longevity of the item just isn't there.

The sweaters I found at H&M were different. They were definitely originally some of their more higher end pieces. However, people just didn't wind up buying them, so then they wound up at their outlet store. After a while they still didn't sell so they slowly marked them down cheaper and cheaper. Once the summer hit it got marked to it's lowest selling price, because no one is looking for a big bulky sweater in 80 degree weather. Except me of course!!!

Hitting up the end of season clearance is my favorite thing to do because I score major deals. So if you have the funds to do so, definitely stock up on clothing at the end of either summer or winter. Make sure you grab pieces that are somewhat timeless and kind of simple. If you go for things that are too trendy, when that season rolls back around it may no longer be in style, and you may not even like it anymore. The pieces have to be something that months from now, you know you're still going to love them. Don't just buy it because its cheap! Then you'll wind up like me, with a closet full of brand new clothes, you know you're not even going to wear.

Fortunately for me I've gotten better, and select more versatile, lasting pieces like this orange sweater. Sweaters aren't going anywhere. I was a little nervous because it is quite bright. However, you can mix it up with a bunch of things (jeans, khakis, skirts, shorts, etc.) and it still will look fine. Luckily, vibrant colors are also one of the trends for this year, so I'm still able to be trendy and also have a versatile piece of clothing. I also discovered that orange surprisingly goes well with my complexion.
I've always shied away from it because I kind of felt like a pumpkin in orange. But, for $5 I couldn't pass it up, and now it's one of my favorite sweaters.

Picture
The bulkiness of the sweater gave me vintage vibes, so I hope you enjoy the old school vibes of my photos this week. I paired the sweater with high waist pants because it creates a nice shape. It accentuates the length of your legs and it also takes away some of largeness of the sweater. I then went with brown and gold accessories because the colors complimented each other well. By doing this I was able to keep it somewhat neutral since the sweater is quite bright. Steve Madden Boots, Coach Purse, gold Alex and Ani Bracelets, and my chunky leather belt helped pull this look together.

Summer is approaching very quickly! So I hope you all have the chance to find some great end of season deals and turn them into an unforgettable budget friendly outfits.

A New Slate

Happy New Year Everyone!

Hears to a fresh new start for the new year! I like to think of a new year as wiping the slate clean, and getting the chance to create a brand new chapter in you life. New opportunities, new experiences, and new adventures.

I like to set yearly goals for myself. Goals that are aligned with my dreams, and actively help me move more into "adulthood." The key is making sure the goals aren't too elaborate and are actually realistic and achievable.  I've been doing this for the past four years, and every year I have achieved my goals.

I urge everyone to do this. It makes you take a second, and look at your life from a new perspective. You're able to see where you are currently, and vision what it is that you want out of life. Setting the goals, gives you something to work towards. When you achieve a goal it is so fulfilling. Then, when you look back at the list at the end of the year, seeing all you achieved makes you value and appreciate your year so much more. Sometimes when I think about my year I instantly think" Dang I didn't do anything....but in all reality I really achieved so much. The yearly goals always puts things into a better perspective.

This year blogging has made it onto my list! I really enjoy blogging, and I want to do more with it. I really want to increase the amount I post, and just make it more a part of my routine. For 2019, my goal is to make at least 25 blog post, and overall get at least 10,000 views on my blog. I've always wanted to be able to share my thoughts with others, and I think blogging is a great way to do it.

So, what better way to start off a new slate, than in a slate coat! This coat was actually a gift from my mom and I LOVE IT! The detailing on this coat is just perfect. Everything compliments each other so well. When it comes to winter coats I hate feeling bulky or boxy, so pieces that make me feel feminine and fashionable are amazing. Coats with skirted bottoms are my favorite because of the great womanly shape they give you! Shiny buttons, and diagonal zippers, give this coat great silver accents to compliment the color. The pattern on the coat is a simple zig-zag. However, it features different shades of grey, black, and white creating a slate of colors and a unique design.

I paired the coat with slate velvet booties. This is actually my first time actually wearing these shoes. I had mixed feelings. I obviously liked them because I had bought them, but something stopped me from wearing them. They sat in my closet for a year and then I finally stirred up enough courage to wear them and I'm glad I did. They are so easy to walk in and surprisingly very comfortable. I wore them for 10 hours straight with no issues! They complimented the coat really well.

Let's walk into 2019 with new goals, new perspectives, and positivity. I feel like this is going to be a really great year, so let's speak it into existence, and do all that we can to make it happen. As you work towards your goals, make sure you do it fashionably! One blog post down for me, 24 more to go!
