Scarfs, Scarfs, Scarfs! I have an obsession with scarfs! They truly are the must have accessory of the winter. Here in Rochester, scarfs aren't just a fashion thing. They kind of are a necessity as well because it gets to be quite cold sometimes. So for us, a scarf is a fashion accessory, extra layer, neck/face protector, and the first line defense against pneumonia! This is the main reason that I have acquired so many. I have some that are strictly for fashion. Those would be the light weight, colorful, beautifully patterned scarfs. They don't have much protection against the cold wind because they're too thin. But, they are just so pretty to look at and overall just great fashion accessories. Then, I have some that are strictly winter protection. The super thick fleece and wool scarfs. They're usually just plain solid colors but they are so warm! Or, you know the ones that started out as pretty scarfs but they've just been snagged way too many times, but they're still pretty cute so you can't bear to part with them? Those are the ones you wrap around yourself to create an extra layer or you can even protect your face behind them. Another honorable mention are infinity scarfs. I LOVE infinity scarfs. They are truly the easiest scarf to wear, you literally just pull them over your head and your done! I tend to find good quality infinity scarfs too. Intricately woven, nice quality material, vibrant colors, and most importantly a good circle size are the key to a good infinity scarf. Now, "circle size" may sound weird but, if the circle is two small it'll be too close onto your neck and just looks uncomfortable and awkward. If it's too big that's the worst because it'll either hang way to low and create a weird gap by your neck, or you'll have to wrap it around your head multiple times which can sometimes look twisted up or create that "too small" look once again. So, always make sure you pay attention to that aspect when buying infinity scarfs. Lastly, there are the double duty ones, the ones that are both thick and fashionable. Blanket scarfs, those are my favorite. They often come in plaid and many different color options, so they will definitely compliment just about any ensemble . It's easy to just throw one on and go. They can be worn as the main attraction to a fall outfit, keep you warm, and they can easily heighten your bulky winter coat to a new fashionable level.
Of course there are more scarfs like ascots, pashminas, headscarves, silk scarfs, and so much more. We could literally write a book on scarves. ( Wait is it scarfs or scarves? lol) However, as of right now these seem to be the ones taking over my closet and influencing all the latest fashion trends! So bundle up in your favorite scarf, stay warm, and make a scarf statement!
