New Year New Me Take Two

We always start out the new year with plans, goals, and missions that we would like to achieve. When the year starts we are all fired up to accomplish them. We’re opening gym memberships, updating our wardrobes, cutting off people, and putting things into place so that we can start taking action and making strides towards things we wanted for the new year. And at first we are doing great! We are focused and driven and it seems like everything has finally fallen into place. This is going to be our year! But, then as the days roll on we start to slip here and there. No biggie it’s fine we’ll do better. But then days turn to weeks and weeks turn to a month and then all of a sudden we aren’t doing anything we were supposed to anymore. We fall back into our old routines, get back into our terrible mindless cycles work-dinner-netflix-sleep-work-dinner-netflix-sleep-repeat-repeat-repeat.

I don’t know maybe I’m being too general. Maybe it’s only me, maybe nobody else experiences this. We start to think maybe I’m the problem. But, then when you head onto social media and it seems like we all have fallen of the wagon and slowly have gotten back into old habits. You wanted to lose 50 pounds, but you just cancelled your gym membership? That man you said you weren’t going to mess with again? I see you’re going back and forth with him on social media. You started a new business, and I was so excited to purchase something from you and I go to your website and it’s a “going out of business sale.” You moved to a new city at the beginning of the year for a fresh start, and now 3 months later you’re posting about how you’re on your way back to your hometown for good...

Look at us, we failed our mission. But think about it, on a video game you get to keep trying and trying again and again until you pass the objective. Listen, you did not fail! Mistakes happen and we mess up. Restarting and readjusting is just all apart of the journey. When you play a game and lose, each time you restart you see something new, you try something different, you switch something up to make sure you will be more successful this time around. And eventually you wind up succeeding, pass the level, and win the game. Why don’t we allow ourselves the same opportunity to try again, readjust, and realign ourselves in our everyday lives?

Last year, I came on here and listed so many goals that I wanted to achieve, and I achieved many of them. However, I also "failed" at some as well. In fact the one area that I struggled in flourishing was THIS... my website... my business... I'm inserting a link HERE so that you can  read through everything that I was supposed to do last year, and we can take a second and laugh together. I put Fashmira to the back burner while I focused on progressing my traditional career. I was also able to experience a little bit of romance in 2021. But, My biggest accomplishment was all the growth I seen within myself. I was on a self love journey in 2021 and I am so proud of how far I’ve come. Honestly, last year was such a beautiful year for me and even though I wasn’t able to check off all the goals for last year, I am so happy with all that I did accomplish because it was no small feat. Mistakes were definitely made but 2021 was a year of growth that was needed. Don’t focus on what you didn’t do. Take pride in all of your wins.

As I embark on level 2022 in this magical game that we all have been playing. I am entering it with a stronger foundation and an enhanced perspective. I completed more important tasks last year that played a major role in my self development. This year it’s time to focus on growing and enhancing my business. This year is about entrepreneurship and getting reacquainted with my creative and innovative side. This year I am taking what I learned from last year, and implementing the lessons learned. New year, New Me, Take Two!

Rewind to My Birthday Party!

Let's talk about a last minute party! I am such a hot mess you guys. I changed my birthday plans so many times. Literally like 5 days before I decided to throw a birthday get together. I always wanted to have a game night/party, but I didn't think anyone would be able to come or would even want to... Man was I in for a surprise! Even with the short notice my family and friends came and showed out! I need to stop underestimating the amount of love that I have around me. Honestly, I had a rough few weeks prior, which explains the last minute birthday planning. So, this outpour of  support and love for me and my special day was just what I needed.
Picture
So let's talk about this look! Everything that I am wearing was already sitting in my closet brand new. My name is Shamira and I am a shopaholic. I actually ordered a bunch of stuff and none of it was working for me. So out of nowhere I stumbled on this top that was sitting in my drawer with the tags still on. I knew I had this skirt... that was also brand new with the tags attached. I tried it on together and then bam perfect outfit!  At the beginning of June I went into dollar tree and they were stocking a bunch of sashes, and of course I just had to get all the ones that had to do with "birthdays." Did I mention I was a shopaholic? While my compulsive shopping habits probably aren't the best for my pockets, it definitely comes in handy for times like this!
Picture
This look was honestly the easiest for me to put together everything just worked perfectly. Which was great because this last minute party had me worried I had nothing to wear. Yes "nothing to wear" despite my closet full of brand new clothes. The only thing that wasn't brand new were the shoes. Do you recognize them? I actually wore them once last year on my 25th birthday! I got so many compliments on them this year! Seeing that I had on all black the gold accents on the shoes drew your eyes and gave my outfit the perfect extra touch.

Last minute party and a last minute outfit! For everything to be so last minute it was truly a perfect day. We ate food, had drinks, played games, and shared so many laughs. It was great to catch up with friends, and get so many people that I love in one space. It was nothing but positive vibes and great energy, and I loved it. It was the perfect start to my birthday!

My 26th Birthday!

I recently turned 26, and I have to say that this was the best birthday I have had in a while! I had so much fun and was surrounded by so much love. My birthday was truly nothing short of amazingly special. <3

My birthday was so eventful! However, leading up to my birthday I was honestly in a funk, and if you know me then you know that isn't normal. I'm always hype for my birthday, I have a whole birthday countdown and make plans months in advance. This time, that just wasn't the case, I was operating on about a 10% excitement level. However, as it got closer to my birthday I ignored the funk and pushed through. We get one special day a year that is dedicated to us, so you always have to acknowledge it and celebrate! I made so many last minute plans that surprisingly turned out amazing. I am so thankful that I have people in my life who were so willing and able to celebrate my birthday with me the way that I wanted to.

I want to thank everyone who made my birthday so special. I appreciate everyone who took the time out to celebrate with me at my birthday events. I want to thank everyone who purchased a birthday gift, a card, etc. Thank you to everyone who acknowledged my birthday, I truly appreciate every single "Happy Birthday" I received. My birthday is so important to me, so it really means so much to me when someone acknowledges my special day. Thank you so much everyone. I feel like I'm on an award show giving my acceptance speech lol, but seriously thank you all so much. If you follow me on social media you got to see some of my outfits! The next three blog posts will be short and sweet but dive into the details of each. I know I'm over a month late but I hope you still enjoy! I'm definitely down to drag it out and continue the celebration.

NYC Pandemic Experience

I recently took a trip to NYC. The city is a frequent travel destination for me, and is dear to my heart for many reasons! I love the hustle and bustle, I love to shop, I love to eat, I have family there, and if you didn't know... that's where I was born. So whenever I go down to the city it's like being at a second home. However, this time it was different. It was the first time that I had gone since the pandemic hit. New York State got hit pretty hard with COVID-19, and NYC particularly was one of the worst hit cities in the world. So during all that madness traveling to NYC was a big NO.

However, for those who live and have to survive in the city, it's different.  When you really look at NYC, the land is pretty small, but it's home to millions of people trying to navigate through life.  Let's take a second and all imagine how NYC was effected by COVID-19. How easily do you think germs are spread in a place where millions of people are squished together in close quarters, with limited social distancing opportunities? Think about a place where public transportation is LIFE, there's not enough disinfectant in the world to destroy those germs on the subway. Think about all the food options, how many restaurants do you think struggled and went out of business when the shutdown happened? New York City is one of the top travel destinations in the world, but who was traveling during a pandemic? When rates began to spike in New York, even those who were brave enough to still travel, they definitely weren't coming there. NYC is supposed to be the city that never sleeps, imagine watching business after business, shutdown and/or close permanently?  Favorite activities were lost, top schools were closed, jobs were lost, normalcy was lost, and the overall New York City vibe was lost.

The pandemic had a major effect on us all, but NYC was definitely hit extremely hard. In order for things to be safe and migrate towards a form of normalcy multiple adaptions had to be made. It's been a year now and things still are no where near the same but they are making strides to get normal.

Despite all the limitations it was still a great trip to NYC! The worst part for me, was everything shutting down at and/or before 11:00pm. I felt so jipped! But that just means you have to make the most of your time while your down there. This is a great time to take advantage of site seeing! They can't cover up a whole monument right? The best part for me was the lack of people. If you've ever been to NYC, you are just surrounded by a million people at all times. With the lack of tourism you can actually walk around and have a safe little bubble around you. You also don't have to wait in long lines. While I loved that, it also was kind of strange.  We went to Times Square and typically it's always a sea of people but it was just so bare when you looked across...

If you've always had a dream of visiting NYC I suggest you wait until things get a little bit more normal. However, if you are a frequent traveler you can definitely still take the trip, just be prepared to make some adaptations.

Cheers To The New Year

As we move into 2021 I'm hoping this year will be much better than the last. 2020 was nothing short of interesting, so I'm hoping to get back to some sort of normalcy. I'm excited to hopefully be able to leave the stressors and uncertainties behind in 2020 and begin moving forward and making better strides towards a beautiful future.

I like to always  start my year off by making goals. I write a detailed list down in my journal of at least 10 things I want to achieve for the year. This allows you to really focus in on what it is that matters to you, and create realistic potential achievements. I then make a fun, captivating visual in the form of a vision board, that get's hung up on my wall. I absolutely LOVE vision boards and I swear they really work. I highly encourage you to look into the law of attraction because I swear, ever since I have begun doing vision boards, I've seen more of my goals and dreams come true.

So for this blog post I wanted to share some of my goals with you! Keyword... some. Yearly goals are a really personal experience. They should also be really specific; contain exact dollar amounts, incorporate exact people, and essentially just contain measurable outcomes. Basically, there's a lot of precise numbers and outcomes I have on my list that may bore some of you so I'll keep it uncomplicated.
Picture
1. Travel!
My first goal of the year is to get back into traveling! I had so many trips planned for 2020 but, COVID-19 definitely put a halt to this. When a world wide pandemic strikes traveling for fun just isn't an option. I sat at home for long enough! Now that travel restrictions are letting up, attractions are opening again, and the virus is more under control, I'm getting back out there and seeing more of the world! I already have one trip planned for February. Don't worry...nothing major... I'm not even leaving the state.
Picture
2. Enhance FASHMIRA
Over the past couple of years you've been able to see FASHMIRA  grow and become more than a hobby on Google's Blogger platform. My goal is to continue to enhance FASHMIRA. Blog posts will become much more frequent! I feel like I say this every year but it's happening! This past year I launched a couple of products and by the end of 2021 the goal is to have a whole lot more, so get ready! When it comes to measuring my outcomes I want to increase subscribers, (HOLD ON! are you subscribed? Go ahead and drop you info at the bottom of this post don't worry I won't flood your email I swear!) increase overall pageviews, increase my social media presence, and increase sales! I have so many visions for FASHMIRA and the work has begun!

3. Develop New Skills
The third goal that I want to share with you is my desire to build up my skills. Despite the negatives of the pandemic, one great thing it gave us was time. I want to use my newly gained free time to learn new skills. One big thing I want to tackle is the art of photoshop. I learned how to do minor editing but now I want to dive deeper into it to really master editing. I also want to learn more about video editing so I can potentially begin to bring you all some video content. Lastly, as I dive deeper into the art of event planning I want to learn some new techniques so I can heighten my event planning offerings. These are just a few of the skills I really want to focus in on this year.
Picture
4. Self-Love
Lastly, I end this blog post with my desire to continue to pour into myself. I'm letting go of things that no longer serve me. I'm only allowing peace and growth to flourish within. One of the quotes that I live by is don't worry be happy. Whenever someone asks me how do I see myself in the future or what do I want out of life. My response to them is always "To be happy." We can make all these goals, achieve all of these things, but if we aren't happy then what are we truly doing everything for? My goal is to always chase and strive for genuine happiness.
I decided to take self love one step further and be a little more intentional. This year I will be celebrating my birthday monthly as opposed to just on June 13th. Out of 365 days so many of us only really celebrate ourselves 1 day out of the year. When everyday truly is a gift to us and the others around who get to experience us. So on the 13th of every month it will be my birthday and I will treat myself to something special and make sure overall is a great day where I treat myself like the princess that I am. However, it doesn't just end there, this whole year will be committed towards heightening the love I have for myself. I will surround myself with people who make me happy, put myself in places that make me happy, and treat myself to things that bring me joy.
Picture
These are just a taste of some of my goals for the year. Remember I said you have to have at least 10 to really make it effective! I encourage you all to come up with some goals! I hope mine have helped you envision some of your own goals for the future. I'd love to hear some of your goals in the comments below. I hope you all are able to redefine your purpose. while you navigate throughout the year. Cheers to 2021 my dears!
